about

Bound by a friendship of twenty-five years, drummer Ali Jackson, pianist Aaron Goldberg and bassist Omer Avital—three contemporary masters of jazz with a tremendous wealth of experience and credits ranging from Wynton Marsalis to Joshua Redman and Kurt Rosenwinkel—release their second collaborative studio effort “Groove du Jour”. Vibrant and exhilarating, their recording magnifies the spirit of swing and celebrates the excitement of playing together, imbuing their shared art with love, fun and optimism.

"This sensational meeting of players is a near-perfect mixture of ingredients, bristling with braggadocious energy." (Down Beat ★★★★)

"Does jazz move forward by looking back? Yes, it does, if the Yes! Trio is hosting." (JazzTimes)

"This trio is the clearest manifestation of a collective bond, and a shared vision of how modern jazz can feel." (Nate Chinen, WBGO)

"One of the wonderful aspects of the Yes! Trio, beyond their expert musicianship and sonic communication as a group, is how they celebrate many different styles." (Next Bop)

"That Yes! can also refer to the trio’s rollicking embrace of swing, rhythmic drive and a sense, on many of the more groove-oriented tracks, of joy." (The New York City Jazz Record)

"Seriously swinging but not at all indulgent or tired the trio keep it interesting and you feel the narration in the way they handle each tune." (Marlbank)

"Un grand oui placé sous le signe de l'évidence et du plaisir de (bien) jouer" (Jazz News / "Indispensable")

"This music is so alive and lively you'll want to get into "Groove du Jour" many times." (Step Tempest)
